There has been a dramatic increase in infections caused by candida worldwide. They are most commonly treated by fluconazole, which has led to emergence of fluconazole resistant candida. Also C krusei show innate resistance and C. glabrata & C. tropicalis show reduced susceptibility to fluconazole.
